About Me
My name is Paula. And I love to dance!
I have a background in different styles of dance but my main focus in the last 7 years has been International style Ballroom and Latin American dancing.
I have always enjoyed dancing but was first exposed to partner-based social dancing at age 20. I soon found I loved the special and unpredictable ways in which a partnership with another dancer creates movement and form that cannot be achieved individually. Social partner dancing and improvised dances provided me with a fresh sense of excitement regarding dance; as well as the opportunity to explore music and movement in a different way. I have learnt so much through it and have formed connections and friendships with many people I would not have ordinarily encountered.
So what dances do I do?
I dance all of the standard Ballroom and Latin American dances - Waltz, Slow foxtrot, Viennese waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Rumba, Cha cha, Paso doble, Jive and Samba). I also do Boogie; Sokkie/ Langarm; Salsa; Bachata; Argentine tango and - my latest addition to the mix - Lindy Hop, Charleston and six-count swing!
I love trying new dance styles - partner and individual styles - and developing my personal dancing ability and understanding of movement. This personal development enhances my ability to teach others and to choreograph creatively.
